This year of 2022 will not stand out for the performance of the IBEX 35 as an index but it does bring back to the Spanish stock market one of its most outstanding characteristics; the high dividend yield of Banking and Energy, the key sectors of the Spanish index.

Throughout 2022, the banking sector - as represented by the IBEX BANKS ETF - has described a broad sideways move picking up all the volatility caused by the risk of recession, inflation and bank tax; some of this uncertainty is offset by dividend yields.

Subsequently, the war in Ukraine and the tax on energy companies, in addition to the uncertainty caused in the companies of the sector by the restrictions on Russian gas and oil - still without agreement in the EU - accelerated the aforementioned volatility also favored by the insecurity of the sector regarding the future Dividends that could be distributed among its shareholders.
